Armenian British Business Chamber meeting with the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT)

UK Trade and ABBC Counsellor Discuss Armenia-UK Trade

On April 11th, 2023, the Armenian British Business Chamber Board of Directors convened with Mr. Stuart Hatch, the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Country Director and Trade Counsellor in Russia. The DBT serves as the UK Government’s principal agency, responsible for negotiating and extending trade agreements. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in encouraging foreign investment and promoting export trade.

Mr. Hatch aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities Armenia currently faces, particularly due to the spillovers from Russia’s war in Ukraine. These spillovers include significant inflows of capital and remittances, as well as the relocation of businesses and individuals seeking stability.

During the meeting, the participants discussed various topics, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase the overall business and investment climate in Armenia. Furthermore, they explored potential opportunities that British companies might unlock by entering the local market, highlighting the mutual benefits of strengthened economic ties.
