Leo Docherty

UK Minister for Europe made his first visit to Armenia

The British Embassy in Yerevan is proud to announce that the UK Minister for Europe made his inaugural visit to Armenia. This visit aimed to further strengthen the growing bilateral relations between the UK and Armenia. As part of his itinerary, the Minister, Leo Docherty, toured some of Armenia’s most innovative and impactful companies and institutions.

One key stop during the visit was at PicsArt, the world’s largest digital creativity platform. Valued at nearly £1.5 billion, PicsArt is one of the tech industry’s latest unicorns. With support from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the British Embassy, PicsArt recently expanded to the UK by opening an office in London. This new office created 40 jobs and generated a total investment of £9.7 million, marking a significant contribution to the UK’s tech ecosystem.

The UK Minister for Europe also visited the renowned TUMO Centre for Creative Technologies, an exceptional learning hub for digital education. Developed in Armenia, TUMO has become an internationally recognized institution, with branches in cities such as Paris, Beirut, and Berlin. During the visit, discussions centred on how the UK could continue to support TUMO’s growth, particularly in scaling its operations further within the UK.

This visit reflects the UK’s ongoing commitment to enhancing educational and technological partnerships with Armenia. By focusing on areas like digital innovation, both countries are poised to benefit from stronger collaboration and shared expertise.
