From 12 to 18 April 2024, the UK FinTech Week (UKFW) and Innovate Finance Global Summit (IFGS) took place, bringing together key stakeholders in the global FinTech sector. Organised by Innovate Finance, the independent industry body representing the FinTech community in the UK, the event had the support of the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT), which sponsored the IFGS.
The week-long event attracted FinTech founders, regulators, policymakers, academics, and media professionals from across the world. As the UK’s flagship FinTech event, UKFW featured five days of world-class discussions and presentations by leading figures in finance, technology, and government.
UKFW commenced with the Innovate Finance Global Summit on 15 and 16 April. Prior to this, on 12 April, DBT organised a visit to the North-East of England—a flourishing FinTech hub—demonstrating the UK’s regional strengths in the sector. Following the summit, DBT also hosted events in London on 17 and 18 April, providing international delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the UK’s FinTech landscape, along with valuable contacts and expertise.
Armenia’s Involvement in UK FinTech Week 2024 and Collaboration
In line with the British Embassy in Yerevan’s commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth in Armenia, Artak Manukyan, a Board Member of the Central Bank of Armenia, participated in the event. His involvement highlights the strengthening of collaboration and knowledge exchange between Armenia and the UK in the FinTech sector.
The event provided the Central Bank of Armenia with a valuable platform to gain insights into international regulatory practices, explore UK expertise, and understand the UK’s comprehensive FinTech offerings. This knowledge transfer is expected to support Armenia’s own efforts to develop and expand its FinTech ecosystem, further positioning the country as an emerging player in the global financial technology space.
Looking Ahead
The participation of Armenian representatives at UK FinTech Week underscores the potential for further collaboration and partnerships between the UK and Armenia. As the FinTech sector continues to evolve, events like UKFW serve as crucial opportunities for countries to exchange expertise, build international networks, and explore cutting-edge innovations that can drive economic growth and digital transformation.
