The Synopsys Armenia Green Team, led by Gayané Markosyan, Head of PR & Communications, has made remarkable strides in addressing environmental challenges and offering sustainable solutions within their local communities. On 10 April 2023, the team received the Synopsys Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award. The ceremony was held in Silicon Valley, California. This award is a testament to their continued efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and spearheading country-wide environmental initiatives.
A Commitment to Green Initiatives and Volunteer Projects
The Green Team has been instrumental in launching and participating in a variety of environment-focused volunteer projects. Through collaboration with organizations like the Armenia Tree Project and My Forest Armenia, employees and their families have planted and mulched thousands of trees across Armenia. Since 2006, Synopsys Armenia has contributed to planting more than 13,000 trees in Yerevan and various regions of the country. Additionally, volunteers took part in cleaning up public parks and outdoor spaces, demonstrating the company’s holistic approach to environmental stewardship.
Innovative Waste Sorting and Recycling Projects
In July 2022, the Green Team initiated a Waste Sorting and Recycling Project, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable practices. Recycling boxes were placed throughout Synopsys Armenia’s offices, covering a total of 16,000m², with clear instructions for employees on how to participate. Within one year, the program collected 1,165 kg of plastic, 2,664.9 kg of paper, and 995 kg of glass. These efforts promoted recycling and raised awareness about responsible waste management in the workplace. The impact was substantial.
Synopsys Armenia Green Team’s Sustainability Milestones and Collaboration
The success of the recycling program was further amplified by Synopsys Armenia’s collaboration with Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development of Communities (ISSD) as part of the “Recycle it!” project. This partnership saved about 30,360 liters of oil and preserved 45 trees. It highlights the tangible impact on local and global sustainability.
