On 19 September 2023, the Armenian British Business Chamber (ABBC) Board of Directors participated in an insightful Business Breakfast with His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, Mr John Gallagher. Also in attendance was Mr. Chris Allen, Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s (FCDO) Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate. The meeting aimed to foster stronger economic ties and explore new avenues of business opportunities between Armenia and the UK.
Key Topics of Discussion at the ABBC Business Breakfast
The breakfast meeting covered a broad range of topics, including an overview of the local business environment in Armenia. The participants shared their views on how both nations can leverage each other’s strengths to create mutually beneficial economic opportunities. Discussions focused on encouraging UK businesses to explore the Armenian market and vice versa, particularly in sectors like technology, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.
Mr Gallagher and Mr Allen highlighted the importance of maintaining close diplomatic and economic relations. They emphasised the role that UK businesses can play in Armenia’s economic growth, especially with the growing interest in the country’s innovation and startup ecosystem. The ABBC Board, in turn, expressed its commitment to supporting further collaboration through various business initiatives and events.
Creating New Economic and Business Opportunities
The meeting also addressed how existing UK-Armenia partnerships could be further developed to ensure sustained growth in key sectors. Both countries recognize the potential for collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, and education. The conversation focused on identifying practical steps to make it easier for businesses to operate across borders, including the potential for streamlining trade regulations and improving investment conditions.

ABBC would like to express its sincere thanks to His Majesty’s Ambassador John Gallagher, Mr. Chris Allen, and the UK Embassy Yerevan for their unwavering support. Their efforts continue to play a pivotal role in enhancing UK-Armenia relations. We look forward to building on these discussions and creating even more opportunities for economic collaboration.
